The DLSU Green Archers avoided an upset in UAAP Season 87 Round 2, limiting the UST Growling Tigers in overtime.
The De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers fended off a determined UST Growling Tigers squad in overtime, securing a 94-87 victory in UAAP Season 87 men's basketball at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday night.
Kevin Quiambao led the way for La Salle, dropping a career-high 29 points to lift the Archers after they squandered a 20-point lead, 40-20, in the first half.
La Salle started strong, going on a 14-0 run, but UST fought back to tie things up at 80-all in the fourth frame.
However, they were unable to convert on the possession and the game went to overtime.
In the extra period, La Salle's defense held UST to just seven points, sealing their fifth straight win.
UST had to cope with the absence of foreign student-athlete Mo Tounkara, who was ejected in the fourth quarter after picking up two technical fouls.
The win improves La Salle to 8-1, while UST falls to 4-5, extending their losing streak to two games.
