The UST Growling Tigers (7-7) return to the UAAP Final Four, the first time since 2019. They clinch the third ticket after beating the Adamson Soaring Falcons in UAAP Season 87.
The UST Growling Tigers clinched their first Final Four appearance since 2019, dismantling the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 75-49, in UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball at the FilOil EcoOil Centre on Saturday.
UST finished the eliminations with a 7-7 record, becoming the first team in 26 years (UAAP Season 61, 1998) to secure the third seed in the UAAP Final Four with a non-winning record, according to statistician Pong Ducanes.
Rookie Amiel Acido starred for the Tigers, scoring 11 of his 14 points in the second half, including four triples, to earn Player of the Game honors. Nic Cabañero contributed 13 points, while Mo Tounkara delivered a double-double of 11 points and 14 rebounds.
UST's 23-4 third-quarter surge sealed the deal, dropping Adamson to 5-8.
The Falcons remain in the hunt for the Final Four but need a win against Ateneo and a UE loss to UP to force a playoff.
