After a morale-boosting win, the UP Fighting Maroons look to pounce on FEU in round 2 of UAAP Season 87 men's volleyball.
Already surpassing their win total of last season, the UP fighting Maroons are hungry for more.
The wards of head coach Carlo Cabatingan look to pounce on the vulnerable FEU Tamaraws in their UAAP Season 87 men’s volleyball duel on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
UP pumped life back to its Final Four hopes after smashing the winless UE Red Warriors in the last outing.
Nigerian super scorer Olayemi Raheem uncorked a 22-point performance, while hitter Tommy Castrodes posted 16 points on top of 16 receptions and eight digs.
The win helped the Fighting Maroons snap a two-game skid and improved to a 3-7 record for the sixth spot in the team standings.
Angelo Lipata, Dan Nicholas and Gelay Lagando combined for 24 markers, while main playmaker Louise Aballe tossed 27 excellent sets.
“Na-highlight ‘yung lapses namin nung third set and we were not able to execute. Going to the next, we just got back to the system, as long as we’re in sync we’re gonna play well naman,” Cabatingan told reporters in the post-game press conference.
Up for another big challenge, the Fighting Maroons look to take down the top-ranked Tamaraws. UP will also target its first win over FEU since all the way back in 2016.
First serve is at 9:00 a.m.
