It's been almost a month since renowned Italian volleyball coach Angiolino Frigoni started practice with Alas Pilipinas Men.

He made no secret on what the Philippine men's national volleyball team needed, more than a year before hosting the 2025 FIVB Men's Volleyball World Championship.

"We need a lot of international experience. I would like to have more matches," Frigoni told One Sports.

"We need to play more matches before this World Championship. Not only practices... It is very, very important to increase the level, the quality of our playing."

Frigoni is actually fine with the players that Alas has, but insists that their quality has to be raised and improved by getting international exposure.

He did see one positive thing about the men's squad.

"I think that everybody [is] very, really involved in the national team. They start to [become] aware of how important it is to practice to get results," the coach shared.

Frigoni helped the Italian men's national team find success in the 90s, leading to a silver medal in the Olympic Games Atlanta 1996, as well as two golds in the 1990 and 1994 World Championships, as well as the 1996 World Cup.

So the highest level of international volleyball is nothing new to Frigoni. But he's aware of human limitations, especially when it comes to the Philippine volleyball scene.

"I don't want to play perfect. It's impossible to play perfect," he said. "I just want to play good. And to play to win, you have to play good and better."
