Wearing those threads must’ve felt rewarding for the longtime Gilas mentor.
Gilas Pilipinas is in the middle of immersing themselves through a rigorous training camp in Europe as part of their buildup for the FIBA World Cup.
The first stop for the Filipino hoopers is Estonia where they are scheduled to face the country’s national team, followed by a clash with Finland.
As always, Gilas’ longtime coach Chot Reyes provided a glimpse of his squad’s preps. On Sunday night, the veteran tactician posted on Instagram a video of the team running up and down the floor inside the Audentes Sports Center.
Among those seen in the video were big men AJ Edu and June Mar Fajardo, who’s coming off a knee injury. The San Miguel Beermen superstar seemed pretty comfortable speeding up and down the court, which is good news for Filipino hoop fans.
Coach Chot also shared a picture of him rocking the full Gilas uniform. He looked pretty good in the national team’s threads as he appeared to be in great physical condition.
Perhaps if the 59-year-old coach was 30 years younger, one could’ve mistaken him for a playing coach.
Seeing Reyes in tip-top shape shouldn’t come as a surprise, though, as he’s been joining his wards in actual training. Here he is looking pretty strong doing the battle rope exercise.
On a more serious note, Gilas is in for a tough stretch. After their stint in Estonia, Coach Chot and his wards will head to Lithuania to continue their training for FIBA’s flagship event.
