The Philippines was the third biggest climber in Asia regarding the FIBA rankings after the qualifiers and the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
Gilas Pilipinas jumped up from world number 37 to become world number 34 in the FIBA men's basketball rankings.
The global basketball federation updated the rankings right after the Olympic Games Paris 2024, which saw Tokyo 2020 gold medalist USA defend its title against host country France.
The Philippines, ranked seventh in Asia, was able to rise following a successful campaign in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Gilas Pilipinas was not only able to secure a win in the group stage--a shock one against host Latvia--but also managed to reach the semifinals.
The Tim Cone-led squad though fell to Brazil, the eventual winner of the OQT.
