Gilas Pilipinas jumped up from world number 37 to become world number 34 in the FIBA men's basketball rankings.

The global basketball federation updated the rankings right after the Olympic Games Paris 2024, which saw Tokyo 2020 gold medalist USA defend its title against host country France.

The Philippines, ranked seventh in Asia, was able to rise following a successful campaign in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Gilas Pilipinas was not only able to secure a win in the group stage--a shock one against host Latvia--but also managed to reach the semifinals.

The Tim Cone-led squad though fell to Brazil, the eventual winner of the OQT.

The Philippines was the third biggest climber in Asia with four points, along with Hong Kong.

India had the biggest jump with six places up to number 76. Japan, which booked an Olympics spot, leaped five spots to number 21.

Defending gold medalist USA retained its spot.

Meanwhile, Serbia went up two places to go at number two.

There's still more to come for Gilas Pilipinas though, with the second window of the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers taking place in November.
