He continues to work his magic in South Korea.
A Filipino reigns supreme in South Korea, well, at least among basketball rookies in KBL.
Former Far Eastern University Tamaraw and Gilas Pilipinas member RJ Abarrientos was named the top rookie of the 2022-2023 KBL season on Thursday.
Averaging 13.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.4 steals for the season, Abarrientos has become one of the key cogs for the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus team that is ranked fourth in the league with a 34-20 win-loss record.
The FEU product’s stellar play has reverberated throughout KBL, as his assists and steals numbers are good for fourth and third overall in the league, respectively.
He also cracked the top five in three-pointers made, making 140 trifectas in 51 games.
The 5-foot-11 guard will look to bring more hardware as No. 4 Ulsan prepares to make noise in the KBL playoffs.
