In his first pro fight in the Philippines, Olympics-bound Eumir Marcial scored a knockout of his Thai foe in Thoedsak Sinam.
In what looked more like a couple of rounds of sparring, Eumir Marcial made mince meat of Thoedsak Sinam in their super middleweight bout on Saturday, March 23, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
In the fourth round, Marcial slid a devastating left uppercut that sent the Thai fighter into the canvas.
After spending the first three rounds sizing up his foe, the Olympics-bound Marcial went beast mode in the round 4 of the eight-round fight.
It took him just a minute and a half before pushing Sinam into the corner where he unleashed his finishing blow.
Sinam did show some resilience, but the Filipino bet was just too much to handle.
“Kuntento naman po ako sa result. Kasi yun talaga yung ina-ano namin, fourth round susubukan namin i-knockout,” said Marcial after the bout.
“Asahan nyo pa na sa mga susunod na laban lalo ko pang galingan. I hope na makalaban ako dito sa Pilipinas. Nagpapa-salamat ako sa mainit na pag-suporta sakin.”
With the sensational knockout victory before a raucous Filipino crowd, Marcial preserved an immaculate 5-0 win-loss record that ow includes three knockouts.
After his rousing homecoming, Marcial will rest for about five days before hitting the ground running anew for the Paris Olympics.
He will fly to Colorado, USA with his team where he will spend the rest of his preparations for the Summer Games.
