Defying gravity and expectations, Fil-am gymnast Levi Jung-Ruivivar flips her way to the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics after her silver finish in the uneven bars at the 2024 FIG Artistics Gymnastics World Cup Series in Doha, Qatar.
With a total of 13.633 points in the uneven bars competition to snag a silver medal in the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup, 17-year-old Levi Jung-Ruivivar is the 10th Filipino athlete to qualify for 2024 Paris Olympics.
On Instagram, Levi described her road to the Olympics.
“This has not been an easy journey to say the least. There have been so many ups and downs along the way,” she said.
On her TikTok account, Levi documented her training, and with every try, comes failure.
“Last one hurt my ego,” she captioned.
But the Filipina fighting spirit is within her. Not backing down in face of adversity, Levi slayed her routine with finesse and flair.
Jung-Ruivivar leapt to victory with grace and poise as she clinched her first World Cup medal, this despite being the last qualifier in the finals of uneven bars.
“Gymnastics has and always will have a special spot reserved in my heart. I cannot express in words how honored and grateful I am for this incredible opportunity. I will forever cherish and remember this moment for the remainder of my life and the bliss I feel in my soul is unmatched,” she said on her Instagram.
Levi received encouragement from her fellow Filipina gymnasts, Aleah Finnegan and Emma Malabuyo, with the former also seeing action at the Olympics.
“LABAN????,” Aleah said.
“So happy for you levi????,” Emma added.
Levi-Jung Ruivivar will be the third gymnast, along with Carlos Yulo and Finnegan, who will be carrying the Philippine flag as gymnasts in Paris.
