Denice Zamboanga will take on Alyonna Rassohyna for the ONE Interim Atomweight MMA World Title at ONE Fight Night 27.
Fritz Biagtan is excited to see just how his fiancée, second-ranked atomweight contender Denice Zamboanga, will fare in her upcoming return to ONE Championship.
After her shot at gold was postponed anew – this time due to her own hamstring injury – Zamboanga will now compete for the ONE Interim Atomweight MMA World Title.
She takes on Alyonna Rassohyna for the strap in the co-main event of ONE Fight Night 27: Tang vs. Abdullaev on January 11 inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Biagtan couldn’t be happier for his loved one.
“I’m so happy that Denice finally got her shot,” Biagtan said, who’s also coming off a win against Saye Dali Asli at ONE Friday Fights 86 a little over a week ago.
“For sure, God has a plan for her. I’m happy that she finally got this opportunity, and we’re all praying for Denice to make the most out of this fight.”
What excites Biagtan most is Zamboanga’s hunger for knowledge. She often pushes herself in training camps beyond her limits, while looking out for new techniques that she can brandish in her future fights.
It’s an attitude that has fast-tracked her rise in the atomweight division, and she has never lost that grit and drive.
“Denice never stops. She’s open to learning,” he said.
“She opens herself up to taking in new techniques, which keeps her improving. What we saw from her in her past fights, she’ll be so much better this time.”
Biagtan even compared Zamboanga to the “Saiyan” race in the highly-popular anime Dragon Ball, owing to her ability to grow better in each fight.
“She’s like a Saiyan. You know when they transform into Super Saiyan 1, then there’s Super Saiyan 2, and then they’ll turn into Super Saiyan 3, and so on – that’s basically Denice,” he said.
“She develops with time. That’s one of the many good things about her, her open mindedness and willingness to learn from our trainers.”
