Carlo Bumina-ang will be back in action at ONE Fight Night 28, taking on Song Min Jong of South Korea.
Carlo “The Bull” Bumina-ang isn’t letting the first loss of his career put him down for long. In fact, he has licked his wounds and is ready for a rebound win in ONE Championship.
The Team Lakay standout is slated to take on Song Min Jong in a bantamweight MMA bout at ONE Fight Night 28 this Saturday, February 8, inside Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
The ONE Friday Fights US$100,000 contract winner bared that he wasn’t himself in his loss to #4-ranked Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu. That said, he’s not using the defeat as an excuse – only as a benchmark to how he’ll perform against the Korean.
“I know myself. I came in 100 percent physically there but when the opening bell rang, I felt like it wasn’t me who was competing in that. It is what it is. It’s not a reason. I have to be better and that’s what I’m doing,” he said.
“I just really focused on myself, got stronger, studied myself, studied my shortcomings, and I used all those learnings in my preparation for Song Min Jong.”
He did admit to being shocked by Baatarkhuu’s level when he jumped from the Friday Fights circuit onto the global stage. The goal for him now is to prove that he’s ready for this level of competition – it’s all about proving it with every fight.
“All I can say is, even though I’ve already competed five times in the ONE Friday Fights circuit, competing in the main roster is a totally different animal. Sure, I was confident, but I was shocked with how strong Enkh-Orgil was,” he said.
“I want to show that I belong here, and I’m continuing to improve every time I compete.”
With his baptism of fire already done, Bumina-ang is ready to go back to his finishing ways to announce his arrival on ONE's main roster.
“It’s not a 100 percent sure,” he said, “but I’ll give myself a 99 percent shot at finishing him.”
