Pinay Muay Thai star Islay Erika Bomogao is only beginning to scratch the surface of her potential as a professional fighter, and she's confident in her continued improvement moving forward.

The 24-year-old gets the chance to prove that when she faces Nerea Rubio in a 103-pound Muay Thai clash in the featured bout at ONE Friday Fights 102 this March 28 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Coming in with a decorated amateur background as the top IFMA fighter in her division and several striking gold medals in the Southeast Asian Games, Bomogao has carried that success into her first two professional bouts in the promotion.

The Baguio City native dazzled in her wins over Japan's Fuu and China's Ran Longshu, dancing around her opponents while hitting them from unusual angles — something she calls "Pinoy Style" Muay Thai.

Still, she believes she hasn't reached her full potential yet.

"I'm honestly still getting the hang of it. I've been playing amateur for years and so the transition to pro is quite challenging," she said.

"However, with every fight, I'm able to adjust, adjust, adjust and improve."

It's no surprise that the promotion sees big things in her future, as she earned a main roster contract after just two wins.

With her combination of lethal skills, potential, charisma, and personality, Bomogao is a superstar in the making, and she accepts the challenge of living up to expectations.

"Being an athlete for years, I've been through a lot already. So pressure is something I know how to handle well," she said.

"I've got an amazing team and family who constantly remind me of my potential and to just focus."

That's why she's looking to perform even better in this match and hopefully secure her first finish in the promotion.

"My goal is to just execute our game plan from round one to three,” she said. “But when I get the chance to finish her, I will."
