The Cignal HD Spikers are out to regain their lost Spikers' Turf title.
Marck Espejo can't wait to see his former Cignal HD Spikers' teammates . . . at the opposite side of the net.
The 2019 Open Conference champions bid goodbye to setter Owen Suarez, wing spiker Edward Camposano, and middle blocker Rex Intal at the start of the year.
"Nalungkot kami lahat pero siguro that's life,"
Espejo told One Sports
on Tuesday. "Since maglalaro sila sa ibang clubs, happy rin ako at kami para sa kanila. Ito yung time na mai-showcase nila yung talents nila at yung natutunan nila sa Cignal sa ibang teams."
"Hopefully mabigyan kami ng magandang game," the 2022 Open Conference Best Outside Spiker added.
Best Opposite Spiker
Ysay Marasigan also rued his teammates' move, since the team had bonded a lot during the pandemic, "Medyo nahirapan kami palitan sila kasi key players."
But there's a lot of players who want to knock on Cignal's door after their victory in the 2022 PNVF Champions League.
There's setter EJ Casaña,
who admits there's a learning curve
from playing for the PGJC-Navy, "Sobrang laki kasi, iba na yung system ng Cignal. Nacha-challenge ako sa bagong team ngayon."
There's also open spiker Gadprey Aresgado, who made a splash for Bacolod's Tarag-Lolek Volleyball Club in the PNVF.
"Dati sa amin, liga lang sa barangay. Ngayon dapat ako mag-adjust kasi ibang klase na 'tong laro,"
he admits to One Sports
. "Kahit nasa bench pa lang ako, kahit mag-cheer lang ako, okay lang. Kakayanin ko na makapasok ako sa team."
The Cignal HD Spikers will once again be gunning for the championship, which they lost to NU last year.
