Former Philippine Azkals captain Stephan Schrock retired from international play three weeks ago, but his duties with the country's men's football team have not ended.

The 36-year-old is still on the field as captain and elder statesman of the Azkals Development Team.

In an Instagram story, Schrock shared a snap of him mentoring members of the squad, which is full of youngsters like 23-year-old striker Gio Pabualan and 19-year-old forward Andres Aldeguer.

The Azkals are undergoing a transition with new players taking over the national team and Schrock's continued involvement on the developmental side only bodes well for the squad. He boasts a credential only few in the country could rival. The Fil-German, whose Filipino roots traced to Parang, Maguindanao, played for the Philippines since 2011. He captained the Azkals from 2019 until his retirement just this month after the Philippines exited the ASEAN Football Federation Cup in a 2-1 loss to Indonesia.
