Former UP Fighting Maroon star forward Carl Tamayo is set to don his Japan B.League uniform, but he will be on a collision course against June Mar Fajardo and the rest of the San Miguel Beermen sooner than expected.

In a video message to the Ryukyu Golden Kings’ faithful, Tamayo shared his excitement to play for his new squad.

“Please support me when I join the team. We're gonna work hard to help the team win games,” Tamayo said. “I'm very excited, I'm gonna be there really soon and hope to see you in games.”

The 6-foot-7 big man encouraged Ryukyu’s fans to support their campaign in the East Asia Super League, where the Beermen and the TNT Tropang Giga will also play.

“Please watch us in EASL. We're gonna play against the PBA and some Asian teams.”

The 2022 Japan B.League runners up are set to go against the Beermen in the group stages of the EASL Champions Week in March, where Tamayo could be baptized with the PBA brand of basketball against no less than the six-time MVP, and the best center to ever play in the Asia’s oldest professional league.
