"The work now will show later."

Denver Nuggets' Jamal Murray tweeted this on December 21, 2021 after tearing his ACL. He had missed the entire 2021-22 season for it.

A year later, he's an NBA champion.

Two-time MVP and Finals MVP Nikola Jokic made sure to give a shoutout to Murray after winning the award.

"We won because we are not rooting for ourselves. We are rooting for the person next to us. I’m rooting for Jamal and everyone else, and they are rooting for me," he said.

Murray was teary-eyed as he spoke to Lisa Salters about his comeback.

"Everybody believed in me. We proved the doubters wrong," he said.

"We had to believe from the get-go. You guys believed from the get-go. It's full circle," Murray added, acknowledging the crowd.

Murray was a key figure in the Nuggets' finals run, averaging 21.4 points per game on a 45% field goal shooting alongside 10 assists. He also made history with Jokic as the first teammates to record triple-doubles in the NBA Finals.

"It's a blessing. It's not me. It's God willing, appreciate him giving me this strength," Murray added.

He also made sure to show love to his coach in this mic'd up segment.

"We had to get you one coach! I appreciate your patience with me," he said.
