Kai Sotto gets huge boost in Las Vegas ahead of Magic’s second NBA Summer League game

Kai Sotto gets huge boost in Las Vegas ahead of Magic’s second NBA Summer League game

Filipino hoops prodigy Kai Sotto logged a DNP (Did Not Play) in his first official NBA Summer League game for the Orlando Magic. Filipino fans were bummed that they didn’t see Sotto on the floor at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas on Sunday. And it’s not hard to imagine how tough it must’ve been as well for the 7-foot-3 center.

Luckily for Kaiju, he remains in high spirits, especially after seeing his little brother pay him a visit during one of the most important moments of his basketball career. Through his Instagram, Kai shared a tender moment between him and his sibling in Vegas.

“Good to see lil bro here,” the Japan B.League Asian import wrote on his IG story as he playfully wraps the little boy in his long arms.

Scratch all the negatives that came off from his benching. Kai’s motivation level may have just received a shot in the arm with his brother, who looks a lot like him, staying by his side as he reaches for his NBA dream.

Sotto and the Magic are set to play their second game at the NBA’s summer showcase tomorrow at 8:30 a.m as they take on another Eastern Conference team. Against the Indiana Pacers, the 21-year-old NBA hopeful from the Philippines will have another confidence-booster as he’ll get the chance to share the floor with his former Adelaide 36ers teammate Mojave King.

But of course, that ideal scenario for Sotto will only happen if Dylan Murphy, Magic coach for the summer tilt, will give the tallest player in his roster a chance to play.
