In a surprising turn of events, Mason Amos has departed from Ateneo de Manila University, joining fierce rivals and defending champions De La Salle University in the upcoming UAAP seasons.

The decision to leave the Blue Eagles was made official via Amos’ heartfelt Instagram post, in which he expressed his deep gratitude and affection for the Ateneo community in his farewell message.

"As I sit here and write this I think about my life and I am forever thankful for what Ateneo has done for me,” Amos wrote.

Amos extended his gratitude to his teammates, coaches, and everyone involved in the basketball program.

"To the coaches and everyone involved - I am thankful for everything you have taught me. I am thankful for the opportunity, the teachings, the adversity and the knowledge you have instilled in me. I am so blessed to be able to be coached by you guys. I love you all and I am thankful for everything,” said Amos.

Amos's message also paid tribute to the broader Ateneo community, including classmates, professors, and fans. He expressed his gratitude for the love and support he received, which made his experience at Ateneo truly special.

“I will forever be proud to have represented the school and thankful. I love you Ateneo. It may be a goodbye, but you will always have a place in my heart,” Amos concluded.

While Ateneo bids farewell to one of its standout players, La Salle welcomes a new addition who has the potential to make a significant impact.

In his rookie season with the Blue Eagles, Amos averaged 8.87 points and 3.4 rebounds per game, helping the rebuilding squad reach the Final Four, where they lost to the University of the Philippines.

Amos brings with him not only his skills and experience but also the invaluable lessons learned from his time with the Blue Eagles and Gilas Pilipinas, where he is currently with the team for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Riga, Latvia.
