Brazil is one step closer to completing its redemption story after breezing past the Dominican Republic in straight sets, 25-22, 25-13, 25-17, at the South Paris Arena 1 on Tuesday, August 6 (Philippine time).

The Tokyo 2020 silver medalists never looked fazed by the Dominican Republic’s challenge throughout the match as team captain Gabriela 'Gabi' Guimarães powered the Brazilians with 20 points on 16 attacks, three blocks, and one service ace.

With the win, Brazil stayed perfect in the Olympic Games Paris 2024 and is through to the semifinals, awaiting the winner between defending champion Team USA and Poland.

After taking the first and second sets in convincing fashion, a tight battle ensued in the third, where both squads exchanged leads to start the frame.

But in midway through, Brazil began to distance themselves at 16-12 behind the efforts of Ana Cristina de Souza and Rosamaria Montibeller.

The world no. 2 squad continued to extend their lead through steady floor defense, coupled with the Dominican Republic's untimely attack errors.

An inspired Brazil squad continued to pounce on the world no. 11 as Gabi and middle blocker Thaisa Menezes sealed the semis-clinching victory.

Ana Cristina contributed 14 markers, while Rosamaria added 11 in the win.

Only Yonkaira Peña finished in double-digit scoring for the Dominican Republic with 12 points.

As they head to the semifinals, Brazil has yet to drop a single set in Paris 2024.
