Carlos Yulo received an additional P10-million, this time from the International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), as a reward for winning the double gold medal in vault and floor exercise at the Olympic Games Paris 2024.

The bonus was presented to Yulo in a ceremony at Waterside at Solaire in Pasay City by Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino and Christian Martin Gonzalez, representing ICTSI chairman and CEO Enrique K. Razon.

“Thank you to ICTSI and Sir Ricky [Razon],” Yulo said after arriving from Paris on Thursday.

He also expressed gratitude to POC president Tolentino, adding, “We all hope they continue supporting us in future competitions, including the next Olympics.”

Bronze boxing medalists Aira Villegas and Nesthy Petecio each received P2-million from ICTSI, while the rest of the athletes in the Philippine Olympic team were awarded P200,000 each.

“Our national athletes have performed their very best in the greatest show on earth at the Paris Olympics,” said Tolentino, who initiated the ICTSI’s reward for the Paris Olympians.

“It’s very important for us supporting our athletes, it’s very important for our country,” Gonzalez said. “It is something we wanted to do more because of all the hard work that you put in for the last eight or 12 years or your entire life.”

Yulo has now accumulated at least P90-million in cash rewards for his historic accomplishments in Paris--including those mandated by law, the reward from the Office of the President, as well as the incentives from Manny V. Pangilinan of the MVP Group.

“Just like the other incentives that I received from the others, it is really super overwhelming. And it is really unexpected to receive another cash reward after they recognized our accomplishments, hard work in practices, and sacrifices for the longest time,” said Yulo.
