No transgression goes unpaid.
The hits keep coming for big man JR Quiñahan.
A few weeks after his involvement in a fight-marred ligang labas in Cebu, Quiñahan is now without a PBA team after the NLEX Road Warriors formally terminated his contract on Saturday. This comes just days after the PBA handed him fines totaling P70,000 for the same incident in Cebu.
In a statement released on the Road Warriors’ official website, team management revealed that Quiñahan playing in unsanctioned games did, indeed, play a factor in his contract being voided. It also bared that, after a thorough investigation, the bruising big man was also found to have “committed several infractions of his Uniform Players’ Contract.”

Reports about NLEX management’s displeasure over Quiñahan arose right after the Cebu incident went viral, with Road Warriors coach Frankie Lim telling News5 that the 38-year-old Cebuano had not been joining NLEX practices for the longest time supposedly because he was still recovering from Achilles surgery.
“He’s supposed to be injured kasi nagpa-opera ng Achilles 'yun. Pumupunta sa practice namin nagpapa-rehab, strengthening, tapos minsan shooting,” Lim revealed that time. “But he never joined us in our regular practices. So, nagulat ako biglang nag larong labas.”
Prior to his contract being terminated, Quiñahan was reportedly earning the maximum salary of P420,000 after resigning with the Road Warriors in January 2021.
Two years after, the veteran center is now a free agent, though it remains to be seen if he will still draw interest from other teams.
