He’s about to enter his 15th PBA season.
Jared Dillinger has always been known in the PBA as the Daredevil. He seemed to have earned the nickname in an instant when he entered the league in the late 2000s. One would think that being called Daredevil was all based on alliteration considering his surname. Perhaps there’s some truth to it.
Over the years, however, he may have proven that the tag fitted his style of play. He always played hard during his heyday, never afraid to sacrifice his body to get a bucket or secure a loose ball. These days, that passion is mostly seen in the 39-year-old forward when he's cheering for his teammates from the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel bench.
On Wednesday, Dillinger went on Instagram to remind the basketball public how hardcore he was during his prime. Listing down the numerous injuries he suffered in his entire PBA tenure, the veteran cager reiterated why his moniker had stuck with him after toiling for more than a decade and a half in the league.
“They don’t call me the Daredevil for nothing,” Dillinger wrote.
As for the list of injuries, here it goes:
Completely torn hamstring
Broken nose (3x)
Fractured clavicle
Bicep torn off from the shoulder
Torn quad tendon
Broken finger (2x)
Broken kneecap
Broken wrist
Ruptured disk lower back
Fractured/cracked hip pelvis bone
Filipino-American hooper Taylor Statham couldn’t help but ask Dillinger after coming across the IG post.
“Do you wake up and immediately ice batch?”
Jared laughed off the question but admitted that it’s a daily habit.
“Lol, everyday after practice,” he replied.
