Chris Ross has won 10 championships with the San Miguel Beermen already, the latest of which came in the recently-concluded PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals against Magnolia.
In an illustrious career that commenced in 2009, Chris Ross has joined an elite company after hoisting his 10th PBA championship.
That’s on top of two Finals Most Valuable Player awards, a Best Player of the Conference nod, and a Most Improved Player recognition.
But it seems the San Miguel star guard is craving for more chips before riding off into the sunset.
Days after helping the Beermen claim their record-extending 29th PBA crown, Ross took to Instagram to flex the latest achievement in a decorated career.
“Ten of them thannnggsss!!!” he said.
“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results! When will they learn?!? If they don't I'll keep collecting these,” he added in the caption laced with trophy emojis.
Then he made an announcement that he’s not done collecting accolades.
“Let’s keep this train rolling. Plenty left in the tank!!!” he continued.
Indeed, it looks like the seasoned cager still has the defensive skills and clutch gene, none more evident in the championship-sealing 104-102 win over Magnolia in Game 6 of the Commissioner's Cup Finals.
Though the playing assistant coach has been playing as back up to the younger guys more often, Ross still steadies the ship whenever he steps on the floor.
His three-pointer off a CJ Perez kickout with 1:27 remaining gave the Beermen their first lead of the game, 100-99. They never looked back.
“Talagang sinabi nya sakin, ‘you drive, then kick out mo sakin, shu-shoot ko.’ So nagtiwala ako. Tiwala namin sa isa’t isa di nawala,” Perez later said.
The one-fifth of the famed Death Five, that once had the league teetering on its heels, is poised to win more with seven-time Fajardo and Best Player of the Conference Perez.
