Justin Brownlee will team up with former PBA imports in Indonesia.

This after the naturalized Filipino signed with Pelita Jaya of the Indonesian Basketball League, the team made the announcement on Wednesday, March 20.

There, Brownlee will reinforce a squad featuring KJ McDaniels and Thomas Robinson.

Like Brownlee, McDaniels has extensive PBA experience under his belt, playing for TNT, Meralco, and NLEX from 2019 to 2023.

Robinson, meanwhile, saw his stint in the PBA with NLEX cut short after “taking an unplanned vacation and skipping team practices.”

Like the two, Brownlee is an import for Ginebra. After multiple championships and game-winners, he has become a household name and a big part of the Gin Kings’ lore.

The 35-year-old cager loved the Philippines so much he agreed to become a naturalized Filipino and later led Gilas to an Asian Games gold medal.

After serving a retroactive three-month suspension for failing the doping test during the regional meet, Brownlee went on to lead the team in its dismantling of Hong Kong and Chinese Taipei in the first window of the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers where he averaged 21 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.

This IBL stint augurs well for Gilas and Brownlee, since he awaits the national team’s next call-up in June for the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Latvia.

Pelita Jaya Jakarta sit fifth in the current IBL standings with a 7-1 record for 15 points.
