PBA: San Miguel overwhelms NorthPort, continues dominance at 7-0

San Miguel flaunted its overwhelming firepower early on and dismantled NorthPort, 120-100, to formally clinch a playoff berth in the PBA Season 48 Philippine Cup at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Sunday, April 21.

The Beermen simply proved too much to handle from the get-go, dropping 72 points in the first 24 minutes of action on the way to their seventh straight win in as many games.

Six Beermen finished in double figures, with CJ Perez leading the charge with 29 points on an 11-of-18 shooting from the field to go with nine rebounds, six assists and a steal.

Mo Tautuaa chipped in 15 points, Don Trollano scored 13, June Mar Fajardo had 12 points and nine rebounds, while Jeron Teng chimed in 10.

Marcio Lassiter fired 14 points on four triples, the first of which shoved him to fourth all-time in three-point field goals made.

“Sabi nga ni caoch (Jorge Gallent) pag naglalaro kami ng buo talaga mahihirapan sila pero kung magsasarili kami kami mahihirapan,” said Perez, whose team led by as many 39 points, 114-75 on Trollano’s layup with 9:43 remaining in the game.

The Batang Pier reeled to their fourth straight loss for a 4-5 win-loss record.

Arvin Tolentino paced NorthPort with 26 points, nine rebounds, and four assist, while Zav Lucero and Joshua Munzon added 10 points each.
