PBA: Ex-NBA player Scotty Hopson boosts Converge in Governors' Cup

PBA: Ex-NBA player Scotty Hopson boosts Converge in Governors
Former NBA journeyman Scotty Hopson will reinforce Converge in the PBA Governors' Cup.

Converge will launch its redemption tour in the PBA with Scotty Hopson as import for the Governors' Cup.

FiberXers coach Aldin Ayo confirmed this development to One Sports via text message.

Though undrafted in the NBA in 2011, the 34-year-old cager suited up for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder.

In between, the Tennessee alum had stints in the Chinese Basketball Association and National Basketball League, to name a few.

He is expected to arrive in the country on Sunday, July 21.

"Wala pa po siya (sa Pilipinas). Baka Sunday po ang dating niya," Ayo told One Sports.

Hopson will reinforce a FiberXers side that wound up dead last in the Commissioner's Cup and the Philippine Cup last season.

Converge, though, has renewed hope after tabbing Justine Baltazar in the recently-concluded PBA Season 49 Rookie Draft.

An MPBL champion and Most Valuable Player with the Pampanga Giant Lanterns, Baltazar is seen as the final piece that will prop up the FiberXers' sagging fortunes.
