The Blackwater Bossing's future, it seems, hinge on its rookies.

Sedrick Barefield and DJ Mitchell are expected to make a world of difference for the Bossing in the upcoming PBA Season 49.

The immense expectations are, of course, not without basis.

Barefield, a Utah Utes product, has shown in Asian competitions that he can be a cornerstone for the win-starved Bossing. The 6-foot-2 baller can do pretty much everything on the court.

On the other hand, Mitchell has a beefed up resume that includes a stint with US NCAA Division 1 school Hartford, where he averaged 5.6 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists.

It remains to be seen whether that will translate to victories in the premier league in Asia.

Outlook:

Blackwater has shown one too many times it can string together victories in any conference.

In the All-Filipino Cup last season, the Bossing rolled to a 3-0 start. The problem, however, was sustaining that fine play.

It is hoped that with two new prized rookies reinforcing the team, Blackwater can finally contend for a playoff spot in the season-opening Governors’ Cup and beyond.
