Marcio Lassiter wasn’t the only one who set a new PBA record Sunday, September 15, in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup.

The San Miguel Beermen as a team set a franchise record during their royal shellacking of Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel.

For a team with a long and proud tradition as the Beermen, it’s quite rare for the team to still set records in 2024. But they did, so let’s go through it a bit more.

San Miguel’s largest lead of the game ended up being the final score, with the Beermen taking the 131-82 victory.

The margin is significant for a few reasons, as per PBA chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III, 49 points in the San Miguel franchise record for margin of victory.

49 points is also the most lopsided loss in Ginebra franchise history, and 49 points is the most lopsided loss for head coach Tim Cone.

As a cherry on top (on the side of San Miguel), 49 points also makes the top-8 among the largest margins of victory in PBA history.

Marcio Lassiter shot six triples on his way to breaking the PBA all-time record for three-pointers made, taking the top spot away from Jimmy Alapag.

By himself, Lassiter matched Ginebra’s entire team output from beyond the arc. The Beermen ended up being +21 on three-points made alone, certainly contributing to the victory.

In a total team effort, 13 Beermen scored at least a basket in a dominant win.

From eight-time MVP June Mar Fajardo to rookie Avan Nava, San Miguel got contribution across the board.
