PBA legend Robert Jaworski will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the scribes covering the beat.

Jaworski will be bestowed the accolade during the 30th edition of the PBA Press Corps Annual awards night on Tuesday, Sept. 24.

The 13-time champion player and coach will be just the second recipient of this recognition following Alaska team owner Wilfred Uytengsu during the 25th anniversary of the PBAPC back in 2019.

Well-loved by basketball fans, the "Big J" won nine titles with Toyota and four as playing coach for Ginebra, where he eventually gave rise to the famed ‘Never Say Die’ mantra.

He was the first-ever playing coach to win a PBA championship during the 1986 Open Conference. As chief tactician, he also steered the country, represented by an all-pro team, to a silver medal finish in the Asian Games in 1990.

For his outstanding game, he was hailed as the PBA's Most Valuable Player in 1978. On top of that, he was also a six-time Mythical First Team, two-time Mythical Second Team, two-time All-Defensive Team member and a four-time All-Star.

Considered to be one of the best-ever point guards in the history of the league, Jaworski holds the all-time record for most assists made at 5,825.

He is the sole player to suit up in a game at the age of 50. His PBA career spanned 23 seasons - the most for a player in a record that was only matched by big man Asi Taulava two years ago.

Jaworski was part of the original 25 Greatest Players in PBA history and was a first-ballot PBA Hall of Famer as a member of the inaugural 2005 class.

Twelve years ago, his iconic No. 7 jersey was officially retired by Barangay Ginebra.
