Justin Arana exited the match early in the fourth period after hurting his knee but hopes to play in Converge's crucial Game 3 match against San Miguel.
Justin Arana hyperextended his right knee early in the fourth period, causing him to sit out the ret of the match and watch on helplessly as Converge fell to San Miguel a second time, 107-100, in their best-of-five quarterfinal contest in the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup quarterfinals on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Arana just scored on a drive thirty seconds earlier and went for a layup for his fourth-straight point as he aimed to further cut the Beermen's 76-80 lead.
Driving past Vic Manuel and eluding import EJ Anosike, Arana did make the shot, putting the FiberXers within two with 10:43 remaining.
Unfortunately, he went down thereafter, holding his knee and taking his time on the floor before being assisted to walk towards the Converge bench.
“Nag-hyperextend 'yung tuhod ko. Natulak yata ni Kuya Vic. Pag-iwas ko sa import, before ako mag take off, pag-apak ko ng right, nag-hyperextend siya,” Arana said after the match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Arana did not see action the rest of the way. He finished with 12 points.
He will have his knee checked by the doctors on Sunday, Sept. 28.
With the FiberXers down 0-2 in the best-of-five affair, the Converge star is hopeful he can play in the do-or-die Game 3 on Monday, Sept. 30.
“Hopefully, makapaglaro ako sa Game 3 kasi sobrang importante sa'min 'to. Down kami 0-2. So sana, sana [makabalik],” he said.
