The Converge FiberXers live to fight another day after an Alec Stockton game-winner caps a 27-point comeback victory in Game 3 of the PBA Governor’s Cup quarterfinals.
An electric finish.
The Converge FiberXers finally solved the San Miguel Beermen puzzle as they took their first PBA playoff win in franchise history with a cardiac Game 3 victory in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Governors’ Cup, 114-112, at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium on Monday, September 30.
Alec Stockton atoned for a foul that sent Marcio Lassiter to the line for three free throws in the previous possession with a game-winning shot as time expired.
The incredible buzzer-beater over CJ Perez capped Converge’s fight back from 27 points down in the third quarter.
With 2:24 left in the third, EJ Anosike scored for the Beermen to push their lead to 83-56.
But just when things looked lost for the FiberXers, offense started to flow.
In the fourth quarter led by Justin Arana, Bryan Santos, and Jalen Jones, the FiberXers poured it in as they scored a whopping 48 points in the final 12 minutes of the game to come out with the win.
As the late-game hero, Stockton took Player of the Game honors with a near triple-double of 20 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists.
