The PBA is making sure it will take part in helping the Filipinos rise from the rubbles of this recent calamity.
The PBA is giving the proceeds of the Season 49 Governors’ Cup Finals opener between Ginebra and TNT to the victims of Severe Tropical Storm 'Kristine.'
League vice chairman and Ginebra governor Alfrancis Chua bared this during the Finals press conference on Thursday, October 24.
This as Severe Tropical Storm 'Kristine' has brought forth severe flooding and landslides the past two days in the country, most notably in the Bicol Region. Based on the latest forecast track of PAGASA, 'Kristine' is hovering over the coastal waters of Southern Ilocos Sur.
As the calamity makes its way out of the country, the PBA wants to take part in helping the Filipinos rise from the rubbles of this recent calamity.
“Again andito tayo, preparing for Sunday’s game, and them, they’re there preparing kung may matitirahan sila or may makakain pa,” Chua said.
"Ipagdasal natin sila. Kung sino pang gustong tumulong, nanawagan po ako na sana tulungan pa po natin ang ating mga kapatid."
The league is extending aid by way of TV5’s Alagang Kapatid Foundation.
“Yung ibibigay ng PBA para sa mga nasalanta sa baha, we will entrust it to Alagang Kapatid Foundation ng TV5,” said PBA chairman Ricky Vargas.
”Alagang Kapatid will report on how they used the proceeds that was given to them by the PBA.”
Game 1 of the Finals is set on Sunday, October 27 at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.
