TNT coach Chot Reyes is throwing all figures related to past PBA Finals battles against Ginebra mentor Tim Cone out of the window.

Those simply do not interest Reyes at this point.

Reyes and Cone face each other in the championship stage of the PBA Season 49 Governors' Cup  a first in 12 years or since the latter’s B-Meg raised the trophy in the 2012 Commissioner’s Cup.

Right now, the two legendary mentors, who both won the league's Coach of the Year multiple times, are tied at 3-3 in their encounters in a finals series.

But Reyes insisted the success of their respective teams does not hinge on him or Cone.

After all, everything boils down to the players’ execution and desire to come up triumphant.

“I think, in the end, magkakatalo 'yan sa on how players execute and the team that’s able to exert their style of play and their will on the basketball court,” Reyes said.

“I know there’s a lot of talk about me and Tim. But I'm sure he will agree in the end the players are going to determine what the outcome of the series is going to be.”

What matters right now for Reyes is how his Rondae-Hollis Jefferson-led Tropang Giga will score a repeat against Justin Brownlee and the Gin Kings.

In his seven finals appearances, Brownlee only lost to RHJ.

“I don’t look at the trends; I don’t look at the past. For me, it’s just about what’s in front of me right now, the present,” said Reyes.

Game 1 begins on Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo.
