Scottie Thompson could not help but be in awe of TNT Tropang Giga's composure after the Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings faltered in Game 2 of the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup Finals on Wednesday, October 30.

After Maverick Ahanmisi sank a bank shot for a 21-11 lead with still three minutes remaining in the opening period, there was a sense the Gin Kings might be on their way to evening up the series.

But the Tropang Giga refused to fold and went on to a 96-84 win and go home with a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven finale.

“They’re a veteran team. They did not panic along the way. Credit to them. Para sa kanila 'yung panalo,” said Thompson after the match at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

TNT's Rondae Hollis-Jefferson toyed with a triple double with 37 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, a steal, and a block, to which the Gin Kings simply did not have an answer.

His counterpart, Justin Brownlee, finished with 19 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.

But the Gin Kings are known for summoning their 'Never Say Die' spirit when the chips are down.

Thompson, who ended up with 18 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and two steals, is making sure that will be on full display when the two teams collide in Game 3 on Friday, November 1 at the same venue.

“For us right now we have to think positive. We know we’re down 0-2 but the series is not yet over. Hopefully we can show our 'Never Say Die' Spirit itong series na 'to,” he said.
