Ginebra finally scored a win over TNT, but still trails in the ongoing PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup best-of-seven finale.
Scottie Thompson had no other recourse but to pour everything in Game 3 of the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup Finals on Friday, Nov. 1.
It paid off as Thompson ended up becoming the Best Player of the match as Ginebra finally came away with a win via an 85-73 decision in its best-of-seven encounter with TNT at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.

The do-it-all guard finished with 15 points, five rebounds, four assists and a steal in 32 minutes and 16 seconds of action.
“Finals na, eh. Kailangan nang i-grind out every game. Siyempre down kami coming into this game. I just want to win,” Thompson said.
The much-needed triumph has raised the Gin Kings’ belief that they can still turn the series around against Best Import frontrunner Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and the Tropang Giga.
“We really need this game, like you said, para sa morale namin. At least, kahit papaano, na-boost ang confidence naming kaya pa naming bumalik sa series na 'to,” Thompson said.

But things are only expected to be tougher for Ginebra from here.
TNT still leads the finale, 2-1.
For Thompson and the rest of the Gin Kings, this is a perfect opportunity to show what they are really made of.
“I think this is the perfect time to show the NSD (never say die) spirit. Sana makabalik kami sa series na 'to,” Thompson said.
