With the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup Finals tied at 2-all, TNT needs to figure out away to contain the surging Gin Kings.
TNT coach Chot Reyes is left searching for answers after Ginebra scored two straight wins to level the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup Finals.
The best-of-seven series is now reduced to a three-game affair as the Tropang Giga and the Gin Kings figure in a scramble for the title.
Apart from usual suspects like Justin Brownlee, Scottie Thompson, and Japeth Aguilar, Reyes and the Tropang Giga now have to deal with two more Gin Kings who are beginning to make a difference for coach Tim Cone.
The two new suspects that are making life miserable for Reyes are Stephen Holt and Maverick Ahanmisi.
“Holt is defending Rondae (Hollis-Jefferson) the whole game and he’s still scoring,” said Reyes of Holt, who finished with 18 big points on top of three rebounds, two assists, and five steals in Ginebra's Game 4 win.
“We know Brownlee, Scottie, and Japeth — those are given. But the game of the two guys are giving us a lot of problems. So we have to find a solution for that.”

Ahanmisi also scored 18 points for Ginebra, all while collaring team-best eight rebounds and getting three assists and two steals. This after Maverick also had 16 points and eight rebounds in Game 3.
His four-pointer with 2:32 left to play help keep the Tropang Giga at bay, 101-90, before cruising to the much-needed triumph at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
“Unbelievable. My hats off to Mav and Stephen. They’re really making it very difficult for us,” said Reyes.
