Phoenix might be out, but Fuel Master Javee Mocon tweets a parting shot aimed at Magnolia’s Aris Dionisio.
Phoenix forward Javee Mocon is not a happy camper these days. The Fuel Masters are off to Kangkong Island after losing to the Magnolia Hotshots in the quarterfinals, but he is also likely nursing a hurting right arm—the same one he hyperextended in a rebound battle against Magnolia forward Aris Dionisio.
If you ask Mocon, he would probably say there was more to it than just good, ol’ rugged physicality. In fact, the young forward wants “someone”—presumably a PBA official—to look at the play.
The apparent arm yanking happened in the third quarter of Phoenix’s win-or-go-home matchup with Magnolia. The game was intense all throughout, and it was highly physical from the get-go, with Fuel Master Jason Perkins getting into a terse exchange with Hotshot import Nick Rakocevic right in the very first quarter. Given the high level of physicality, it might appear that Dionisio did not do anything out of the ordinary. Also, he has never been known to be either rugged or dirty.
Mocon will likely say otherwise, as will his girlfriend, Maica Palo, who was seen shouting in the general direction of Dionisio after the play. But it is still unclear what about the play warrants a closer look and who should do the investigating. It does seem, though, that Mocon is insinuating something underhanded with Dionisio’s ball protection tactics.
Based on the number of replies to Mocon’s tweet, it looks like many others have actually taken a closer look at the play, and the reactions have been varied. But whether Mocon will get something out of this tweet is a mystery for another day.
