The win gave the Cool Smashers a safe passage to the semifinals.
Make no mistake, the Creamline Cool Smashers came to win on Tuesday.
But they didn’t expect to blank the streaking PLDT High Speed Hitters, 25-20, 25-21, 25-17 in their PVL All-Filipino Conference match at the PhilSports Arena.
“Of course not,” said Ced Domingo when asked if they expected to sweep the High Speed Hitters, who were on a four-game winning streak coming into this game.
Winning against PLDT was not as easy as the score suggests, though.
“Gotta give it to PLDT also for playing a good game. I think ginawa lang talaga namin game namin, 'yung role namin,” she said.
Domingo, who finished with 17 big points including a block, said going up against PLDT’s frontline of Dell Palomata and Mika Reyes was a tall task literally and figuratively.
“It’s such a big challenge to go up against Ate Dell and Ate Mika. Lalo na si Ate Dell sobrang tangkad, siya katapat ko,” she said.
“I just tried to communicate and connect more with Ate Jia [De Guzman] para magawa ko 'yung mga dapat.”
The win gave the Cool Smashers a superior 6-1 win-loss record and, more importantly, an outright semifinals berth.
