Vanie Gandler is now part of the Cignal HD Spikers.

Seeing her in the red and black jersey in the professional league might take a bit of getting used to, after seeing the outside hitter proudly wear the blue and white of the Ateneo Blue Eagles in UAAP Season 85.

"Coming to the professional league, I want to get out of my comfort zone," Gandler told One Sports' The Game on Thursday night. "The first two years are about learning more and growing as an athlete and as a person."

Gandler admitted it was intimidating to be an Atenean coming to a professional squad which has a lot of players from the FEU Lady Tamaraws, such as Rachel Anne Daquis, Gel Cayuna, Gen Casugod, Chin Basas, Jerrili Malabanan, and Gyzelle Sy.

But, as their mantra goes, there was nothing but happiness from the Cignal HD Spikers.

"As soon as I stepped in there, it was very welcoming. They put in the effort to make me feel welcome," Gandler recalled.

She knows she can learn from a squad that has two bronze medals and a silver medal in the PVL. And Gandler is ready to offer her services after the Cignal HD Spikers dropped to sixth in the recent All-Filipino Conference.

Gandler is also excited to learn a lot from coach Shaq delos Santos.

"I'm really expecting a lot to learn from them," she said. "I'm a fresh face and hopefully they can learn something from me too."

"I'm bringing my hard work and wanting to improve my game."
