Fresh from a five-set heartbreak over FEU, the UP Fighting Maroons are bent on taking care of business this time around against the DLSU Green Spikers.
UP looks to regain its footing as the Fighting Maroons eye to spoil the DLSU Green Spikers’ Final Four plans in the UAAP Season 87 men’s volleyball tournament on Sunday, April 13, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Serving time is at 11:00 a.m.
Already set to miss the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season, UP seeks for a strong finish in the remaining games of the competition.
The Fighting Maroons are sitting at sixth place with a 3-8 win-loss record, just ahead of the Adamson Soaring Falcons (2-9) and the cellar-dweller UE Red Warriors (0-12).
UP pushed no. 1 and Final Four-bound FEU Tamaraws to the limit before surrendering a 19-25, 21-25, 25-20, 31-29, 15-12, heartbreaker in their last outing.
That game saw the Fighting Maroons storm back from a 0-2 deficit to force a fifth and deciding set.
However, even Olayemi Raheem’s team-high 25 points were not enough as UP lost a 12th straight meeting to FEU.
Tommy Castrodes supplied 17 markers, while Louise Aballe set up 22 excellent sets and six points.
