Bet you didn't have a driving teacher as patient as Ponggay's dad.
Learning to drive manual transmission is not an easy task. Trying to absorb all the complexities of driving stick with a fiery mentor—who yells at you for not doing it their way—is an even tougher challenge.
Calm down, y'all!
Singer Rico Blanco first proved that you can teach driving without shouting in a cute and well-adored video with girlfriend and actress Maris Racal. Now, the father-daughter tandem of Pauline Gaston and former PBA player Fritz Gaston showed another example.
The Chery Tiggo Crossover shared her driving lessons with her dad on TikTok, and first timers can pick up a thing or two here.
"Always wear [your] seatbelt," the younger Gaston was reminded at the start of the video.
Now, to start the lesson.
"Step on the clutch, 'wag masyadong malalim," Fritz instructed.
The first gear usually is the hardest part to get.
"Release mo na 'yung break, and then release the clutch slowly, very slowly. Let it move."
Whenever Ponggay gets something right, Fritz would response with a resounding "'Yan."
"If you want to shift to second, release the clutch, gas. See, 'yun ang timing mo," he said.
"If you push the clutch and gas, parang neutral siya," Fritz proceeded to make an engine sound after.
Fritz shined the most and showed how an effective of a teacher he is when Pauline repeatedly made mistakes.
In the latter part of the video, the younger Gaston struggled, and the car repeatedly shut down. Her father calmly gave her advice.
"Pwede kang naka-clutch, tapakan mo na 'yung gas, and then slowly release. Hindi 'yung ire-release mo 'yung clutch, wala kang gas, mamamatay siya. Dahan-dahan, dahan-dahan, 'wag mong bibiglain," he said.
"This one is not hard to drive. It's not, one time [then] you can drive, darling."
The former Ateneo Blue Eagle might be struggling now, but she'll be a master soon. She's lucky to have a really great and patient teacher.
