Galeries is one of the two new teams in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference.
Just because the Galeries Tower Highrisers are a rookie team doesn't mean the players can be considered newbies. In fact, most of them have been around the PVL for quite a while. And they've played together and against each other in the UAAP too.
Fhen Emnas, who played setter for the Gerflor Defenders in the PVL Invitational Conference, will now be the leader for the Highrisers. And she had a pretty solid impression of her teammates.
"Lahat mga walang hiya!" she joked to One Sports, laughing. "Comfortable kami sa isa't isa. Nagvo-voice out kami ng concerns namin. Sobrang laking part na makakatulong sa'min inside and outside the court."
Carly Hernandez, an outside hitter who previously suited up for the Foton Tornadoes, also noted the positive vibes with her new teammates ahead of the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference, which will begin on Sunday.
"Sobrang fun lang kami. Sobrang happy lang," she noted. "Siyempre hardworking dahil bagong team ulit. Hindi mawawala 'yung double-time when it comes to inside the court."
They're not kidding about double-time. Emnas said she wants this to be the team's signature.
"Siguro sa speed," Emnas answered when asked about what the team wants to be known for. "'Dun kami nagfo-focus ngayon."
She also wants to lead by example for the Lerma Giron-coached squad.
"(My aim is) to work hard every day, hindi lang 100%," she said. "Hangga't makakaya, taasan pa sa 100%. 'Yun 'yung gusto kong maipakita consistently. Saka 'yung pagiging vocal ko."
Emnas and Hernandez were among the first Galeries players to be introduced along with Ysa Jimenez and Norielle Ipac.
Joining them are Roma Joy Doromal, Acy Masangkay, Kia Melgar, and Raprap Aguilar.
Last Wednesday, the Highrisers also announced their defensive anchors in Tin Francisco, Andrea Marzan, Anne Esguerra, Juliet Catindig, and Julia Angeles.
Galeries will first see action on Tuesday against PVL First All-Filipino Conference runner-up Petro Gazz Angels at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
It will be aired live at 7 p.m. on One Sports, One Sports+, and the Pilipinas Live app.
