The Fil-Canadian is taking a positive mindset to a tournament cut prematurely.
In a game that had nothing but maybe fighting pride on the line, the PLDT High Speed Hitters and Petro Gazz Angels played as though their fate in the PVL Second All-Filipino Conference hinged on it.
But, in the end, it was the High Speed Hitters who hacked out a 16-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-16, 15-7 win and ended their campaign on a winning note.
At the center of it all was PLDT newbie Savannah Davison, who turned in an explosive performance with 29 points on 26 attacks and three blocks.
Though the High Speed Hitters failed to advance to the semifinals, Davison found solace in the fact that the team improved day in and day out.
“The biggest takeaway was the progress,” she said after the game at the PhilSports Arena. “Just always trying to progress, get better everyday.”
But, for now, the 5-foot-9 Fil-Canadian spiker will have to go back home for a little while. She assured PLDT fans, though, that she’s returning next conference for the High Speed Hitters.
“I’ll be back for a little. Not gonna tell you how long. But I’m gonna stay with PLDT for the next conference,” said Davison, who played for University of Oklahoma and New Mexico State University.
And when Davison returns, best believe that she and the rest of the High Speed Hitters are going for no less than the championship. After all, they will have lots of time between now and the start of next season to make progress, both as individual players and as a team.
“We’re definitely looking for a championship. That’s the main goal,” she said.
But it will take progress for that to happen. Lots and lots of it.
