He spent four conferences with the team.
Barely 24 hours after the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers announced the team's disbandment, the Akari Chargers dropped another PVL bombshell on Thursday.
Coach Jorge Souza de Brito submitted his resignation as coach of the squad effective December 15.
"The Akari management accepted his resignation and offer our sincerest appreciation and thank him for his time and service for the four conferences he has served as head tactician of this young promising team," the team's statement read.
The Chargers had their best performance in the PVL in the Second All-Filipino Conference, reaching seventh place with a 5-6 record.
They even upset the Cargo Movers in a five-set thriller in Fifi Sharma's debut.
They also outlasted the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in four sets.
Despite the solid campaign, a lot of fans seemed to have welcomed the coaching development, with one netizen commenting that "the world is healing."
It's no secret that fans have been vocal in their discontent with de Brito, especially in his handling of the national team.

Some fans expressed optimism that spiker Faith Nisperos would grow further under a new coach.
The development also prompted a guessing game on who would next helm the Chargers.
Some offered up Regine Diego of the disbanded Cargo Movers and Lerma Giron of the Galeries Tower Highrisers.
Having a Japanese coach seems to work well, as shown by Taka Minowa with the Nxled Chameleons. Given Akari's penchant for tapping foreign coaches, some fans wondered about getting a Japanese or a Thai tactician.
What's clear for now is this: The offseason developments in the PVL are going to be wild!
