The Petro Gazz Angels fueled their semis drive once more, ramming through the Galeries Tower Highrisers, 25-7, 25-21, 25-17, in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Sta.Rosa Sports Complex Saturday.

The Angels soared atop the standings with an 8-2 record (25 points), vaulting over the Choco Mucho Flying Titans (24 points) and the Creamline Cool Smashers (24 points), both of whom also hold identical 8-2 cards.

The reliable trio of Brooke Van Sickle, Jonah Sabete, and captain Remy Palma heated up right from the get go, cranking up Petro Gazz’s engine for a 20-4 lead in the opening frame.

Jolted to their senses after a deflating start, the Highrisers managed to keep in step with the Angels in the second frame. But Van Sickle refused to let her side’s momentum decelerate, pummeling the differential hits that pushed Petro Gazz ahead, 2-0 in sets.

Come the decisive third set, the Angels mounted a 23-13 cushion before Myla Pablo nailed a kill to bring her side a point away from a sweep.

Galeries Tower managed to save four match points, but Dimdim Pacres coughed out a fatal service error that sealed the deal.

Van Sickle continued to flaunt her all-around prowess, putting up 17 points built on 13 attacks, three aces, and a block laced with nine digs, and four receptions.

Sabete provided ample support with 11 markers on seven attacks, two blocks, and two aces, while Palma and Pablo pitched in eight and six points, respectively.

The Highrisers, meanwhile, dropped to a 3-7 slate at 10th place.

France Ronquillo paced the losing side with six points, six receptions, and four digs.

Petro Gazz attempts to secure a semis berth when it plunges back into action against also-ran Nxled on April 27, Saturday.

Galeries Tower, on the other hand, tries to spoil Chery Tiggo’s chances in hopes of ending its campaign on a high on Thursday, April 25.

Both matches will be held at the PhilSports Arena.
