While Kim Kianna Dy is mostly known for her wit and humor, the PLDT High Speed Hitter is also battling pain in silence.
It was the semifinals of the PVL Invitational Conference last year when KKD had a right knee injury. It was a tougher time for her as she sat on the sidelines, missing the last moments of the conference for her former team, the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, before their disbandment.
Point City was then recruited by the PLDT High Speed Hitters. KKD joining the team meant a reunion with former DLSU Lady Spikers, such as Mika Reyes, Kim Fajardo, and Majoy Baron.
KKD has been spending her time off the court bonding with her long-time boyfriend, Gilas Pilipinas’ Dwight Ramos, creating funny contents on TikTok with her sisters, Kaila and Nika Dy, and digging deeper into herself through new-found activities such as hiking.
But behind every laugh lies a story untold.
In her TikTok account, Kianna gets emotional while updating her recovery status.
“Past months have been hard. Some days you feel like giving up, but your will to get back on court will always be stronger,” she wrote.
Kianna became more sentimental after reading the comments of her fans.
“Can’t wait to see you again on the court. Unang palo para sa muling pagtayo, we will wait for you, Ms. Kianna,” TikTok user commented.
“Laban lang swish,” her bestie Majoy commented.
“Wait for meee,” Kianna replied.
KKD shares a heartwarming message for all the athletes who are also going through injuries.
“Here’s to all the athletes recovering from an injury. It’ll take time, but we’ll get there … eventually,” she wrote.
