It’s the libero-outside hitter bond you didn’t know you needed.

There are many ways to say ‘thank you’ in different languages, but ‘gracias’ is particularly fitting for Dawn Macandili-Catindig to exude her heartfelt gratitude to her longtime teammate from Venezuela, MJ Perez.

In an Instagram post, Catindig shared a collection of photos featuring herself and Perez.

The love and gratitude remains strong, even as the two only shared the court for Cignal for a few games, due to Dawn’s national team duties with Alas Pilipinas.

Perez likewise took to social media to show her gratitude. She thanked everyone who believed in her, as well as Cignal and all her Filipino fans as she returned to Philippine volleyball this year.

When MJ Perez joined Cignal in the PVL, she saw it as the ideal place to bid farewell to the sport that once made her an inspiration to many.

Perez first set foot in the Philippines seven years ago when she joined F2 Logistics. Since then, the country has held a special place in her heart.

Even as the oldest import in the PVL Reinforced Conference, Perez stood out, earning the Best Foreign Guest Player award and guiding Cignal to a bronze medal finish.

She continued her impressive run with a Best Outside Spiker award in the Invitational Conference, playing a key role in the HD Spikers' silver medal finish after a hard-fought championship match against the Creamline Cool Smashers.

In the five-setter, MJ also set a new PVL Finals record with 42 points.
