The Chery Tiggo Crossovers are hoping to have an amicable resolution with Eya Laure as star spiker looks to depart from the team ahead of the upcoming 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The Chery Tiggo Crossovers are looking for a positive resolution with superstar spiker Eya Laure as she departs from the team ahead of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Speaking during the league’s pre-season press conference, Chery Tiggo team manager Aaron Velez said that they are in constant communication with Laure in the hopes of settling their dispute before the new season begins.
“Status lang namin ngayon kay Eya Laure it’s still under negotiation. Hopefully, we could actually resolve this amicably. Of course, we look after also ‘yung welfare ni Eya and hopefully ma-resolve nga ito ng meet halfway for both parties,” Velez told reporters.
“Definitely, before the PVL starts we want to resolve this also. This week most likely kasi start na ng PVL November 9 so hopefully before November 9 meron nang mapagayusan,” he added.
The issue between Laure and the Crossovers stems from a non-compete clause in the 25-year-old spiker’s contract with the team.
Many teams have reportedly been looking at the situation, hoping to sign Laure once the contract dispute with Chery Tiggo is resolved.

For now, the Crossovers have been looking into the contract they have with the former UST Golden Tigresses standout.
“As mentioned nga, because of the non-disclosure of any contract I can’t really say the entire clause, rest assured it was also read before and it was also discussed,” said Velez.
It’s still unclear whether or not Laure already has a new PVL team in mind ahead of the new conference. But according to the PVL, the powerful hitter will be able to play right away should she not be included in Chery Tiggo’s lineup.
Despite the split between the two sides, Velez is hoping to straighten things out with Laure.
“I can’t really say yun nga na mutual kasi sa any breakup naman, talagang meron yan mga masalimuot na pinagdadaanan pero hopefully ma-resolve siya nang maayos,” said Velez.
