The Petro Gazz Angels grabbed their fourth-straight win in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference after dominating the Cignal HD Spikers in straight sets.
The Petro Gazz Angels continued their marvelous start in the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference, dominating the Cignal HD Spikers in straight sets, 25-19, 25-21, 25-18, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig on Saturday, December 14.
The win puts the Angels atop the standings with a 5-1 record and 15 points, while the HD Spikers dropped to second at 4-1.
In the third set, Petro Gazz distanced themselves from Cignal for a 16-11 lead after an attack error by Ces Molina.
Despite the HD Spikers’ effort to trim the deficit, the Angels proved to be just too sharp as they continued to hold on to their five-point lead.
In her second game back, Fil-Am middle blocker MJ Phillips looked more comfortable as she pushed Petro Gazz ahead, 22-16.
Then it was former MVP Brooke Van Sickle’s turn as she scored back-to-back points to bring it to match point, before Jonah Sabete sealed the win with a tip.
Van Sickle led the way once more for the Angels with 19 points on 13 attacks and six blocks.
Petro Gazz will be back on January 21 as the Angels battle the Chery Tiggo Crossovers.
Meanwhile, Cignal will look to bounce back on the same date when the HD Spikers face the Galeries Tower Highrisers.
