Chie Saet and the Petro Gazz Angels are two wins away from their first-ever PVL All-Filipino Conference title.
After years of chasing the elusive All-Filipino crown, Petro Gazz setter Chie Saet is one step away from finally checking it off her list.
The veteran playmaker is set to lead the Angels in their Finals clash against the Creamline Cool Smashers in the 2024–25 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
With a golden opportunity to capture their first-ever All-Filipino championship, Saet admits this has been something the team has long dreamed of achieving.
“Sobrang happy kasi lahat naman kaming teams dito sa PVL pangarap na mag-champion eh,” Saet said after their semifinal sweep. “So ito, nandito kami, pinagtrabahuhan namin nang maayos, pinaghirapan, so kami 'yung pinalad, sinwerte. Gagawan namin ito ng paraan, tatapusin namin nang maayos.”

While Petro Gazz already has two Reinforced Conference titles to its name, back in 2019 and 2022, the All-Filipino championship has remained out of reach—until now. The Angels lost three in the Open/All-Filipino Conference, all against the Cool Smashers.
For Saet, the challenge is different this time. Without an import to anchor the offense, the pressure is heavier—but so is the pride.
“I think 'yung difference, 'yun nga, may import kasi noon. So, ngayon mas mataas 'yung expectation kasi All-Filipino,” she explained. “This time, we will do our very best. Ulitin ko, gaya ng sinabi ni coach Koji [Tsuzurabara], we will face and enter the Finals with our 200 percent.”
As the team’s main setter, Saet understands the weight of her role in orchestrating Petro Gazz’s attack, which features the likes of Brooke Van Sickle, Myla Pablo, Jonah Sabete, MJ Phillips, and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas.
“Syempre nandoon pa rin ‘yung mindset kung paano madidistribute 'yung bola nang maayos sa spikers—receive to set and then yung attack namin,” she shared. “Lahat kami, mindset namin is to play, sabi nga ni coach, 200 percent entering the Finals.”

With years of experience, a deep connection with her teammates, and one goal left to chase, Saet is determined to help Petro Gazz finally bring home the one title that has eluded them.
Game 1 of the best-of-three Finals series begins Tuesday, April 8, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
